New control centres (HSE and DEM) are made up of the superior HSE (CV HSE) which is responsible for managing the whole balance group HSE, and of the company DEM (CV DEM), which is in taking care for the optimum exploitation of water potentials of the river Drava in Slovenia, is planning possible generation and is adapting operation to the changeable energetic and water conditions. Both centres are harmonized with each other and with the Austrian and Croatian control centres on the river Drava.

Among the most important functions are planning of generation, realisation of operation, covering of deviations from the planed generation and analysis of the whole generation of the balance group HSE, which involves hydro power plants on Drava, hydro power plants on Soča, thermo power plant Šoštanj, thermo power plant Trbovlje, hydro power plant Boštanj, power plants on Sava, thermo power plant Brestanica, nuclear power plant Krško and all of the biggest customers respectively electro companies. With its contemporary concept the new centres will contribute to the whole group a bigger competitive position and an additional rationalisation, because the uniformed system will rationalise the maintenance and the administration of the system, at the same time a better adaptation to the demands of the electro energetic system and to the market with the electric energy and its products will be assured.

Because of the old machine equipment improvement of the already existing centre CV DEM was not possible, that is why the decision about building new and at the same time combined management centres HSE and DEM. By tender the task was entrusted to consortium Iskra Sistemi and Korona. The pretentious project execution followed, and afterwards numerous factory testing at home and abroad. With the power plants on the river Drava we generate one fourth of the whole electric energy in Slovenia.

The General Director of HSE dr. Jože Zagožen said at the opening: „ With the goal of bigger operating efficiency we strive in HSE to take advantage of collaboration of the wide spectrum of the generation units in the balance group. Technological and operational characteristics and characteristics of expenses of individual generation units are different from each other and therefore it is possible with the adequate combination of generation timetables to achieve for a good price generation of electric energy. At the same time the price of electric energy is gradually changing on the market, and for this reason is economic dispatching of generating units considering technical criterion even more important. It is achieved with CV HSE, which is the cover centre of management the whole balance group HSE, with which we will manage to perform all required tasks for assuring a reliable and safe power supply and achieve maximal economic effects.
