Supply contract for Zlatoličje HPP turbine and ancillary mechanical equipment signed (Maribor, 20. 7. 2005) - Managing Director of Dravske elektrarne Maribor, d.o.o. (DEM) Danilo Šef and General Manager of Litostroj E.I. Jože Jaklin today signed the contract for the supply of turbines and ancillary mechanical equipment for Zlatoličje HPP, the refurbishment of which will take place between 2007 and 2009. This completes the selection of the first equipment supplier for the refurbishment of Zlatoličje HPP, the total cost of which is estimated at 15 billion tolars. The selection process was presided over by a special commission, while the value of the contact remains confidential.
After the signing of the contract, DEM Managing Director Danilo Šef said, “Zlatoličje HPP, the largest of the Drava power plants, which generates more than 5 % of all Slovenian electricity, has been operating continually for almost four decades. In that time its generator and turbine equipment has worn out and must be replaced to ensure continued safe and reliable power generation. The manufacturing of such equipment is a lengthy process, therefore I believe that the replacement of HPP Zlatoličje turbines and generators is unlikely to start before 2007.” Dr. Zagožen, HSE CEO, also expressed satisfaction about the start of the refurbishment of Zlatoličje HPP: “This is a top-priority project among the proposed investments in new power generation capacities of the HSE Group, by the implementation of which peak output of the power plant will increase by 24 MW and annual output by app. 30 GWh. The refurbishment of Zlatoličje HPP is one of the first HSE investments in the continued safety and reliability of power supply to Slovenian customers.”
